Domestic sugar prices were reported weak
Domestic sugar prices in major markets were reported slightly weak at higher price levels. On lower supply prices are quoting at multi year low. Prices have reported lower by Rs 10-20 per quintal over the major trading centers.
As per the trade sources, excess rains have impacted the trading activity and forecast of cold wave has kept demand subdued over the last 2-3 sessions. However, with good demand ahead of festive and restricted supplies are likely to keep prices higher in the near term.
Currently, M-grade sugar is priced between ₹3,980 and ₹4,080 per quintal in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, while S-grade sugar in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, is quoted at ₹3,860 to ₹3,900 per quintal.
International Market
At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $489.50 ton, whereas the New York Sugar # 11 The front month contract is trading at 16.55 c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 379-0 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.74250s
Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices
The rupee traded against the US dollar at 87.054 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.5040 Crude WTI traded at $62.52 a barrel. Sensex closed 213.45 points up at 81857.84 whereas Nifty closed 69.90 points higher at 25050.55
