Domestic Market
Domestic sugar prices were reported weak

Domestic sugar prices in major markets have been reported to be weak on dull demand. Prices saw a fall of Rs 5-10 per quintal due to dull off take as monthly quota was similar to the previous season.

The Food Ministry announced on August 28, 2025, that a monthly sugar quota of 23.5 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) has been allocated for September 2025, which is the same as the quota allocated for September 2024. The total sugar quota for the 2023–24 season (October 2023 to September 2024) was 291.50 LMT, whereas for the 2024–25 season (October 2024 to September 2025), the quota stands at 275.50 LMT.

Currently, the price of M-grade sugar is between ₹3,950 and ₹4,050 per quintal in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, while S-grade sugar is quoted between ₹3,830 and ₹3,870 per quintal in Kolhapur, Maharashtra.
