Muzaffarnagar: Efforts to expand Morna sugar mill underway, says DM

Morna, Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh): District Magistrate Umesh Mishra has said that efforts to expand the Morna Cooperative Sugar Mill are in progress and work will begin soon. He stressed that the process of diverting sugarcane must be carried out on time with farmers’ consent. “If farmers face any problem, they should approach us directly and it will be resolved,” he assured, reported Amar Ujala.

Speaking at the annual general body meeting of the Morna Sugar Mill Committee, the District Magistrate instructed that cane indenting and slip distribution be done on time, and that cane payments be completed within 14 days. He also urged the mill to begin the crushing season at the earliest

He also asked for a joint committee of farmers and employees to be formed to review and report monthly on disease-free sugarcane varieties, and called on the mill to move towards self-reliance. The DM further directed that proper seating arrangements be made for farmers visiting the mill.

During the meeting, farmer Manoj Rathi and Soran Singh of Kadipur demanded proper lighting arrangements along a one-kilometer stretch on both sides of the road leading to the mill.

Farmers from Firozpur, Rahmatpur, Garhwara, Sikanderpur, Dariyapur, and Rudkali villages demanded the establishment of sugarcane centers for Khai Kheri and Tikola mills.

Pawan Jainar, Deputy General Manager of Khai Kheri Sugar Mill; Pradeep Tyagi, Cane Manager; Manoj Tyagi, Assistant Manager; and Arvind Sharma, Cane Manager of Tikola Mill, attended the meeting.

The session was presided over by Manager B.P. Pandey and conducted by Kaluram. Chief Cane Officer Rajesh Kumar, Chief Engineer Shashikant Yadav, Accountant Salil, and Rishipal also played key roles in organizing the event.
