400 quintals of sugar go missing en route from cooperative sugar mill to Kolkata

Tilhar (Shahjahanpur): A transport company’s truck carrying 400 quintals of sugar from the Tilhar Cooperative sugar mill to Kolkata has mysteriously gone missing. The truck was later found empty in the town of Dobhi, Bihar, but neither the driver nor the cleaner were present, reported Amar Ujala.

The owner of the transport company has filed a report with the local police, but authorities said that the investigation will be handled by the Bihar police since the incident occurred in their jurisdiction.

The transport company is run by Salmani from Laxminagar, Gola Gokarnnath, Lakhimpur Kheri. He informed police that on September 13, the truck was loaded with sugar worth approximately Rs. 17 lakh at the Tilhar Cooperative Sugar Mill.

Upon contacting the truck owner on Sunday, the driver was identified as Nihal Khan from West Bengal, and his assistant as Mohammad Jeetu from Bihar. However, no trace of either has been found so far.

Inspector in charge Rakesh Kumar stated that since the incident took place in Bihar, the investigation will continue under the jurisdiction of the relevant police station there.
