Sensex, Nifty end marginally lower amid volatility

Indian equity indices ended marginally lower in the volatile session on September 29.

Sensex ended 61.52 points lower at 80,364.94, whereas Nifty concluded 19.80 points down at 24,634.90.

The sell-off came after the United States announced a steep 100% tariff on imports of branded and patented pharmaceutical products, effective October 1.

Axis Bank, Maruti Suzuki, L&T, Apollo Hospitals, Dr Reddy’s Labs were among top losers on the Nifty, while gainers were Eternal, Bharat Electronics, IndusInd Bank, Titan Company, Wipro.

Indian rupee ended lower at 88.76 per dollar on Monday versus Friday’s close of 88.71.

In the previous season, Sensex ended 733.22 points lower at 80,426.46, whereas Nifty concluded 236.15 points down at 24,654.70.
