Sensex ends 716 points higher, Nifty above 24,800 post RBI policy

Indian equity indices ended higher on October 01 after RBI policy announcement.

Sensex ended 715.70 points higher at 80,983.31, whereas Nifty concluded 225.20 points up at 24,836.30.

Tata Motors, Shriram Finance, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Trent, Sun Pharma were among biggest gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Bajaj Finance, Tata Steel, SBI, UltraTech Cement and Bajaj Auto.

Indian rupee ended higher by 9 paise at 88.69 per dollar on Wednesday versus previous close of 88.78.

In the previous season, Sensex ended 97.32 points lower at 80,267.62, whereas Nifty concluded 23.80 points down at 24,611.10.

In a unanimous decision, the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the RBI kept the policy repo rate unchanged at 5.5 per cent in its policy announcement on Wednesday.
