Natore Sugar Mill will launch its 42nd sugarcane crushing season tomorrow, with expectations of boosting production in the new cycle.
According to BSS, the mill has set a target of producing 6,930 tonnes of sugar by processing 110,000 tonnes of sugarcane.
This season, sugarcane cultivation spans 810 hectares within the mill’s operational zone. To assist growers, the mill has provided Tk 93 million in loans for seeds, fertilisers, and cash support.
The purchase price of sugarcane at the farmer level has also been increased—from Tk 6,000 to Tk 6,250 per tonne—ensuring better returns for producers.
In the previous season, the mill aimed to produce 5,300 tonnes of sugar from 90,000 tonnes of cane. It ultimately exceeded that goal, producing 6,148 tonnes after threshing 107,775 tonnes.
Managing Director of Natore Sugar Mill, Krishibid Md. Akhlashur Rahman, said all preparations for the new season are complete, including boiler ignition, cleaning work, and activation of all sugarcane purchasing centres.
“With everyone’s coordinated efforts, we hope to achieve a successful sugarcane threshing season,” he said.
