The sugarcane crushing season for 2025–26 has gathered momentum in Uttar Pradesh, with 113 sugar mills across the state commencing operations as of November 25, according to the Sugar Industry and Cane Development Department.
The department reported that the mills have collectively crushed 1,035.82 lakh quintals of sugarcane, marking a robust start to the season. The 113 active mills include 52 in the Central Region, 34 in the Western Region, and 27 in the Eastern Region.
Officials said several sugar mills have already initiated payments to farmers, with many following a weekly disbursement cycle to ensure timely disbursement. Cane officers have been instructed to swiftly resolve farmer grievances and ensure that all mills adhere to payment regulations.
