Domestic sugar prices were mostly stable
Domestic sugar prices across major markets remained stable for the second session, with prices in Maharashtra, North Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh maintaining steady levels. The arrival of new-season sugar has helped support sentiment in northern markets, whereas subdued buying activity continues to weigh in Maharashtra and North Karnataka.
The food ministry released a monthly quota for the month of December. As per the update quota was reported at 22.0 lakh tons, higher by 2.0 lakh tons compared to previous month.
In key physical markets, M-grade sugar in Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh) was quoted between โน4,040 and โน4,120 per quintal. In Kolhapur (Maharashtra), S-grade sugar traded in the range of โน3,710โโน3,740 per quintal, indicating a stable to slightly weak pricing trend.

At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #The 5 front month contract is trading at $435.80 ton, whereas the New York Sugar # 11 The front month contract is trading at 15.14 c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 431-6 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.83000s
Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices
The rupee traded against the US dollar at 89.377 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.3427 Crude WTI traded at $58.91 a barrel. Sensex closed 110.87 points up at 85,720.38 whereas Nifty closed 10.25 points higher at 26,215.55.
