Uttar Pradesh produced 141.8 crore litres of ethanol till November 2025: Report

The sharp surge in ethanol production has not only boosted industrial activity in Uttar Pradesh but also placed the state at the forefront of India’s ethanol sector.

A increase in output, sales, and investment proposals signals that Uttar Pradesh’s economy is entering a new phase of expansion.

According to officials, Uttar Pradesh produced 141.8 crore litres of ethanol by November 2025, marking the highest production level achieved so far, reported The Statesman.

“Structural reforms, technological upgrades, and the Yogi Adityanath government’s ‘Ease of Doing Business’ policies have accelerated growth in the liquor, beer, wine, and alcohol-based industries,” an official said.

Uttar Pradesh has now emerged as one of the country’s leading ethanol producers, a development that has not only stimulated industrial activity but also given a significant boost to the rural economy.

Investors, from major corporate houses to medium-scale enterprises, are expanding their presence in the state’s alcohol-based industrial sector.

According to Uttar Pradesh Excise Commissioner Dr. Adarsh Singh, 125 agreements have been signed under Invest UP, involving ongoing investments worth Rs. 3,07,35 crore.

Additionally, land has been allocated for 43 ready-to-launch projects, with investments amounting to Rs. 6,898.88 crore currently under process.

He further noted that 19 projects under Invest UP are operational, representing investments of over Rs. 2,900 crore and creating more than 4,800 jobs. Under non-MoU arrangements, 28 projects are functioning with investments of Rs. 2,752 crore.

Overall, proposed investments in the excise sector are expected to generate more than 9,940 employment opportunities.
