Domestic sugar prices traded lower
Domestic sugar prices across major markets were reported to be weak with more fall reporting in Uttar Pradesh. As prices rallied sharply in Uttar Pradesh over the past 10-12 sessions, prices saw drastic fall in today’s session. As crushing is progressing well buyers are not aggressively buying as supply will remain ample moving forward.
In the key physical markets, M-grade sugar in Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh) was quoted between ₹4,000 and ₹4,100 per quintal. In Kolhapur (Maharashtra), S-grade sugar traded in the range of ₹3,690–₹3,740 per quintal, reflecting a steady to slightly softer tone.

Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices
The rupee traded against the US dollar at 90.201 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.4056 Crude WTI traded at $59.37 a barrel. Sensex closed 609.68 points down at 85,102.69 whereas Nifty closed 225.90 points lower at 25,960.55.
