Domestic sugar prices traded stable to weak
Domestic sugar prices were reported stable to weak in todayโs session, as ample availability from the steadily progressing crushing season continued to exert pressure on the market. In addition, the gap between export realizations and relatively higher domestic prices is expected to further weigh on sentiment, limiting buying interest at current levels.
In Maharashtra, around 189 mills are currently operational and have produced approximately 3.44 million metric tonnes of sugar, with an average recovery rate of 8.46%. With crushing activity running smoothly across key producing states, buyers remained cautious, factoring in comfortable supply prospects over the coming weeks. As a result, overall market sentiment continued to stay on the softer side.
Spot prices in major physical markets reflected this subdued tone. In Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, M-grade sugar was quoted in the range of โน3,920โโน4,010 per quintal. Meanwhile, in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, S-grade sugar traded slightly lower at โน3,620โโน3,660 per quintal, extending the gradual decline seen over recent sessions.
