Indian benchmark indices ended on a negative note with Nifty nears 26,250 on January 5.
Sensex ended 322.39 points lower at 85,439.62, whereas Nifty concluded 78.25 points down at 26,250.30.
Biggest Nifty losers included HDFC Bank, HCL Technologies, Infosys, Wipro, ONGC, while gainers were Nestle India, Bharat Electronics, Eicher Motors, Asian Paints, Tata Steel.
Indian rupee closed lower at 90.28 per dollar on Monday versus Friday’s close of 90.19.
In the previous season, Sensex ended 573.41 points higher at 85,762.01, whereas Nifty concluded 182.00 points up at 26,328.55.
