Domestic Market
Domestic sugar prices traded steady
After a continuous decline over the past few sessions, domestic sugar prices were largely steady in today’s trading session. Following yesterday’s fall, prices stabilised in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, indicating that the market is attempting to consolidate at lower levels rather than extending the decline sharply.
However, the broader sentiment in sugar remains weak-to-stable, as the market continues to face downward pressure since the start of the crushing season. This weakness is mainly driven by comfortable supply availability, with crushing operations running smoothly across key producing states. At the same time, demand remains subdued, restricting bulk buying and keeping any meaningful recovery out of reach.
Spot market trends also reflected this cautious tone. In Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh), M-grade sugar was quoted at ₹3,870–₹3,950/quintal. Meanwhile, in Kolhapur (Maharashtra), S-grade sugar traded slightly lower at ₹3,540–₹3,600/quintal, extending the gradual soft trend seen over recent sessions.
