Domestic sugar prices continue to trade higher
Domestic sugar prices continued to trade higher across major markets for the second consecutive session, supported by expectations of an increase in the Minimum Selling Price (MSP). Market sources indicate that the Indian government is likely to raise the MSP of sugar from the current ₹31 per kg to around ₹37–38 per kg. An official notification regarding the proposed hike is expected early next week.
In Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, M-grade sugar was quoted in the range of ₹3,920–₹4,050 per quintal, marking an increase of ₹15–20 per quintal from the previous session. Meanwhile, in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, S-grade sugar traded at ₹3,570–₹3,620 per quintal, up by around ₹10-20 per quintal.
