Sensex ends 271 points lower, Nifty below 25,200

Indian equity indices ended lower for the third consecutive session on January 21.

Sensex ended 270.84 points lower at 81,909.63, whereas Nifty concluded 75.00 points down at 25,157.50.

On the Nifty, Trent, Bharat Electronics, ICICI Bank, Tata Consumer and Apollo Hospitals were among the top losers, while Eternal, Max Healthcare, InterGlobe Aviation, Hindalco and JSW Steel featured among the gainers.

Indian rupee ended at record closing at 91.70 per dollar on Wednesday against Tuesday’s close of 90.97.

In the previous season, Sensex ended 1,065.71 points lower at 82,180.47, whereas Nifty concluded 353.00 points down at 25,232.50.
