Domestic sugar price reported to be steady
Domestic sugar prices were reported steady across major markets. With the recent news around a potential increase in the Minimum Selling Price (MSP) beginning to fade, some price weakness was observed in Maharashtra. However, downside remains limited amid reports of lower sugar production, particularly from Maharashtra and Karnataka, due to excess rainfall. Additionally, recovery rates are now expected to be lower than initially anticipated, which could further tighten supply.
In Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, M-grade sugar was quoted in the range of ₹3,980–₹4,100 per quintal, steady compared to the previous session. Meanwhile, in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, S-grade sugar traded at ₹3,590–₹3,660 per quintal, also steady versus the last session.
