Gujarat: MLA Amit Chavda alleges corruption at Bardoli Sugar Factory

The Bardoli Sugar Factory in Surat district is involved in large-scale corruption, MLA Amit Chavda alleged, The Hans India reported.

At a media briefing on Sunday, Chavda, the MLA from Anklav, said the Bardoli Sugar Factory, regarded as Asia’s largest, plays a crucial role in supporting farmers across south Gujarat. He alleged that the factory had been “looted and exploited” under the current government, claiming that irregularities had taken place on a significant scale.

He also criticised the government’s overall performance, alleging that farmers were not receiving fair prices for their produce, while pollution and unemployment had increased. He further claimed that the law and order situation had deteriorated and that corruption was visible across several sectors.

Emphasising Bardoli’s historical importance, Chavda noted that the region served as a major centre of India’s freedom movement under the leadership of former Home Minister Sardar Patel.
