Maharashtra: Court cancels anticipatory bail of 10 accused in Parner sugar mill sale irregularities case

Ahilyanagar: The additional sessions court in Ahilyanagar has cancelled the anticipatory bail granted to 10 accused in a case related to alleged irregularities in the sale of the Parner Cooperative Sugar Factory at Devibhoire in Parner taluka. The court has directed police to immediately arrest the accused and continue the investigation, Sakal reported.

Advocate Ramdas Ghavate of the Parner Factory Protection Committee said irregularities were detected in the sale of the cooperative sugar mill in Ahilyanagar district. Following efforts by the committee, a case was registered about a year ago against Kranti Sugar, a private company, and others after orders from the Parner court.

Those named in the case include Kranti Sugar chairman Dnyanesh Navale and directors Pandurang Navale, Dattatray Navale, Bhiku Navale, Jalinder Navale, Gulab Navale, Shivraj Navale, Shridhar Navale, and Nivrutti Navale, among others.

Earlier, a revision petition filed by the accused was rejected by the sessions court. The court had later granted them anticipatory bail with certain conditions. However, after it was found that these conditions had been violated, the Parner Factory Protection Committee, the complainant in the case, approached the sessions court seeking cancellation of the bail. Accepting the committeeโ€™s arguments, the court revoked the anticipatory bail.

Advocate Ghavate also alleged political pressure in the case, claiming that statements from witnesses were not being recorded. A total of 42 witnesses are listed, and he has demanded a change in the investigating officer.

The hearing was conducted before Additional Sessions Judge Mahesh Lone, while advocates Ramdas Ghavate, Sudam Sathe, Unmesh Chaudhari, and Somnath Gopale represented the Factory Protection Committee.
