Waaree Clean Energy Solutions ties up with Zero Footprint Industries for green hydrogen initiative

Waaree Energies’ fully owned subsidiary, Waaree Clean Energy Solutions, has entered into an Electrolyser as a Service Agreement (EAAS) for a 2.5 MW electrolyser with Zero Footprint Industries (ZFI) to support ZFI’s expansion of green hydrogen initiatives in Uttar Pradesh.

Additionally, the two firms have established a strategic memorandum of understanding aimed at supplying up to 50 MW of electrolysers via the EAAS model for various decentralised green hydrogen projects throughout northern India.

Under the terms of this 15-year EAAS agreement, Waaree Clean Energy Solutions will be responsible for the design, engineering, supply, installation, commissioning, ownership, and operation of a 2.5 MW alkaline electrolyser system for ZFI.

The electrolyser will be produced at Waaree’s facility in Dungri, Gujarat. It is projected to provide green hydrogen and green oxygen to ZFI under a long-term contract lasting 15 years. This project aims to generate approximately 4.1 million Nm3 of green hydrogen and around 2 million Nm3 of green oxygen each year.

The produced gases will primarily serve ZFI’s current clients in sectors such as mentha oil, chemicals, steel, and pharmaceuticals, facilitating their transition from grey hydrogen to green hydrogen in a cost-effective way wherever possible.

The delivery of the electrolyser stack is anticipated in the second quarter of FY27, with commercial operations expected to commence in the third quarter of FY27.

ZFI is actively involved in providing green hydrogen, green oxygen, and other industrial gases through comprehensive projects that encompass generation, purification, compression, storage, and distribution. The company has already launched India’s first merchant green hydrogen facility capable of producing 250 cubic meters per hour in Uttar Pradesh.
