Sensex down 1100 points; Nifty closes below 24,500

Indian benchmark indices continued selloff for the third day amid Iran-US tension with the Sensex declining 1122.66 points and the Nifty losing 385.20 points.

The BSE Sensex closed at 79,116.19, while the Nifty 50 ended at 24,480.50.

Among the top Nifty losers were Tata Steel, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, SBI Life Insurance, L&T, JSW Steel. The gainers included Coal India, Bharti Airtel, Infosys, Tech Mahindra and Sun Pharma.

The Indian rupee ended lower at 92.14 per dollar on Monday, compared to the previous close of 91.47.

In the previous trading session, the Sensex had settled at 80,238.85, while the Nifty closed at 24,865.70.
