Sensex up 900 points; Nifty closes above 24,750

Indian benchmark indices recovered on March 5, with the Sensex gaining 899.71 points and the Nifty rising 285.40 points.

The BSE Sensex closed at 80,015.90, while the Nifty 50 ended at 24,765.90.

Top gainers included Adani Ports, Hindalco, L&T, BEL, and NTPC, while the major losers were TECHM, ICICIBANK, HCLTECH, SBIN, and TCS.

The Indian rupee closed at 91.60 per US dollar on Thursday, compared to the previous close of 92.14.

In the previous trading session, the Sensex had settled at 79,116.19, while the Nifty closed at 24,480.50.
