Sugarcane Farmers Can Now Buy Agricultural Machinery with 50–60% Subsidy Until March 19

Patna: The deadline for purchasing agricultural machinery under the Sugarcane Mechanization Scheme has been extended to March 19. Sugarcane farmers selected in the third and fourth randomization rounds can now buy the approved machines until the extended date. Earlier, the deadline was March 3.

After purchasing the machinery, farmers will receive the subsidy amount directly into their bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The Sugarcane Industry Department of Bihar has launched several schemes to promote sugarcane cultivation in the state on the orders of the state government. One of the key initiatives is the Sugarcane Mechanization Scheme, which helps farmers purchase modern agricultural equipment.

Under this scheme, the department provides a 50–60% subsidy to sugarcane farmers for purchasing machines used from land preparation to harvesting. According to officials, 324 sugarcane farmers selected in the third and fourth randomization rounds have been issued permits to purchase agricultural machinery. Initially, farmers were required to buy the equipment by March 3, but the department extended the deadline to speed up machinery purchases and achieve the scheme’s financial targets.
Farmers who have received approval letters can purchase the machines by paying the full amount to vendors listed on the SUMEK portal: https://sugarcanemech.bihar.gov.in Once the machinery is verified, the subsidy amount will be transferred to the farmer’s bank account via DBT.
