A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the National Sugar Institute (NSI), Kanpur and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) to promote energy efficiency and sustainable practices in the sugar industry.
The MoU was signed by the Director of NSI, Professor Seema Paroha, and the Deputy Director of BEE, Dr. Ashok Kumar, in the presence of the Director General of BEE, Krushna Chandra Panigrahy.
The collaboration aims to promote energy efficiency through joint research, training programmes, demonstration projects, and knowledge exchange. These initiatives are expected to play a significant role in advancing sustainable industrial development.
Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries emphasised that the sugar industry is one of India’s major agro-based industries, and improving energy efficiency in this sector will help reduce energy intensity while encouraging environmentally responsible practices.
Under this partnership, both institutions will work together on strengthening research activities, capacity building, energy audits, and the development of innovative energy-efficient technologies for the benefit of the sugar sector and the nation.
The collaboration is expected to open new avenues for technical advancement and contribute meaningfully to the national goals of energy conservation and sustainable development.
The officials also expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to making this initiative possible and conveyed confidence that the partnership will prove fruitful and long-lasting.
