Uttar Pradesh: Farmers’ group stages protest, seeks Rs 100 crore cane dues and power reforms

Gajraula: A farmers’ group staged a protest on Tuesday, raising demands for clearing pending sugarcane payments, Amar Ujala reported.

At the demonstration organised by the Bharatiya Kisan Union Shankar faction, national president Chaudhary Diwakar Singh called for the settlement of long-pending issues, including the release of nearly Rs 100 crore owed by sugar mills to sugarcane farmers.

Addressing the gathering outside the electricity department’s executive engineer office, he said several local problems remain unresolved and accused the administration of not taking concrete steps.

He also raised concerns over the removal of street vendors who have been operating

A memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was submitted to Executive Engineer Neeraj Kumar. Several local leaders and members of the organisation were present at the protest.
