Cambodia’s sugar products export fall 44 per cent

Sugar export from Cambodia has witnessed dip by 43.89 per cent in the first half of the season this year. As per the data from the General Department of Customs and Excise, the exports fell from $33.70 million to $18.95 million.

Seang Thay, spokesperson, Ministry of Commerce said that the sugar exported from the country include cane, beet sugar, chemically pure sucrose (in solid form) and raw sugar not containing added flavouring or colouring matter. Along with this, the sugar in the form of pure lactose, glucose, and maltose and sugar confectionery (including white chocolate) are also exported from the country.

At present 10 companies export palm sugar to 25 countries, the maximum share belongs to EU, followed by China, South Korea and Japan.
