Administration asks sugar mills to clear sugarcane arrears

Bagpat, Uttar Pradesh: Over pending sugarcane arrears, the government seems to be strict. According to the news report published in Dainik Jagran, District sugarcane officer Anil Kumar Bharati has issued notices to sugar mills for pending cane arrears and warned to take action if they fail to clear cane dues.

The district cane officer has asked the mills officials to clear cane arrears.

Government is closely monitoring the daily cane payments by sugar mills. Also, instructions have been issued to take action against sugar mills if they fail to clear cane dues. Sugarcane farmers claim they are reeling under financial burden due to a delay in cane payments.

The lockdown imposed by the government to prevent the spread of Coronavirus pandemic has also affected many sugar mills across India. Mills were unable to sell the sugar amid lockdown, due to which sugar stocks piled up in godown. Lack of finance has also affected the mills to clear cane arrears.
