Ambala: Farmers protest for pending cane arrears

Ambala, Haryana: Sugarcane farmers from Ambala protested outside the premises of Naraingarh Sugar mill at Banondi village in Shahzadpur area for pending cane arrears of around Rs 19.5 crore.

The farmers have gathered under the banner of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) Haryana (Charuni) Ambala district head Malkiat Singh Sahibpura. The farmers protested from 10.30 am to 2 pm outside the mill premises.

The angry farmers blocked the National Highway (NH) 7 for more than 20 minutes after the mill administration did not pay attention to their protest.
After the road was blocked, Naraingarh tehsildar Dinesh Dhillon and area DSP Anil Kumar and other government officials rushed to the spot and pacified the farmers.

According to the tehsildar, the farmers blocked the road for a short period and they cleared the blockade when the officials reached the spot to meet them.
