Amid pandemic, sugarcane harvesting completed in Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, and Telangana

New Delhi: Coronavirus pandemic has impacted many sectors. Amid this harvesting of crops is taking place.

According to the news agency PTI, the government said that out of the total 48.52 lakh hectares area under sugarcane cultivation, the harvesting has been completed in Chhattisgarh, Karnataka and Telangana.

The sugarcane harvesting in other sugarcane producing states is yet to be completed and the sugar mills continue cane crushing in these states. In Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal the harvesting has been completed up to 98%. In Uttar Pradesh, 84% harvesting has been completed and it is likely to complete by mid-May.

The government on Sunday said over 81 per cent of wheat sown area has been harvested so far, while harvest of pulses and oilseeds has been completed amidst the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
