Amrik Singh Aliwal gets another term as Chairman of Sugarfed

Chandigarh: Former MP Amrik Singh Aliwal has been reappointed as the Chairman of Sugarfed by the Punjab Government. The Cooperation Department has issued a notification regarding his appointment.

Cooperation Minister S Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa congratulated the newly appointed Chairman and said that the state government is taking various steps for the farmers’ welfare.

Mr Aliwal belongs to the farming family and is a grassroots leader. His experience will help the institution to work for the welfare of farmers, he said.

The minister said that during the earlier tenure of Aliwal, Bhogpur Sugar Mill was expanded while as part of futuristic endeavours, new mills are being set up at Batala and Gurdaspur besides a State of the art sugarcane research centre at Kalanaur.
