Amroha: BKU threatens protest over sugarcane arrears

Amroha: The Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) on Friday threatened to hold a protest if Wave  sugar mill does not pay the outstanding sugarcane price to farmers, reported Live Hindustan.
BKU state secretary Vijender Sharma told a panchayat (meeting) that the mill owes farmers crores of rupees in arrears. He warned that if the payment is not made soon, the farmers will take to the streets.
Sharma said that the mill management’s negligence and arbitrariness have left farmers struggling financially.

Other speakers at the panchayat demanded that the government stop underweight purchases of sugarcane at purchase centers and announce the support price for sugarcane soon.

BKU leaders Balwinder Singh, Dharmendra Singh, Bhudev Singh, Nirjan Singh, Sunil Kumar, Rishipal Singh, and Naresh Singh were present at the meeting.
