Area under cane cultivation decreases by 2256 in district

Saharanpur: The area under sugarcane cultivation has decreased by 2256 hectares this season as against last season, reports Amar Ujala.

During the last season cane was grown on 1, 21,525.544 hectares while this season it was grown on 1, 19,269.286 hectares.

As per the report of the sugarcane survey, the area under cane cultivation in the Deoband sugar mill region has increased by 10% while the Sarsawa mill region has witnessed a reduction of 11%, the Nanauta region by 8% and the Gagalheri region witnessed a 9% lower cane cultivation.

This season Bidawi and Todarpur sugar mills are likely to start operations and there will be a tussle between the sugar mills to procure cane for crushing.
