Bihar receives Rs 30,000 crore proposal for ethanol industry

Patna: Bihar government has received proposals worth Rs 30,000 crore to set up ethanol manufacturing plants, said Industry minister Shahnawaz Hussain.

Speaking to reporters, he said that the government is committed towards the welfare of the farmers and taking several steps to boost their income.

Bihar is the first state in the country that has announced the ethanol production policy. The state is promoting ethanol production with an aim to become one of the leading ethanol producers in the country.

The ethanol production policy in Bihar is set to attract more investment in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5, 2021 released the report of the expert committee on ‘Roadmap for Ethanol Blending in India by 2025‘.

It is likely that ethanol distillation capacities in the country would be more than doubled by 2025 and India would be able to achieve a 20 per cent blending target.
