Bihar: Sugar mill launches awareness campaign to increase area under cane cultivation

Gopalganj: Sidhwalia Sugar Mill on Wednesday launched an awareness campaign to encourage farmers in the eastern part of the district to cultivate sugarcane in a larger area, reported Live Hindustan.

Led by the Executive President of the Sugar Mill, Shashi Kedia, the team from the sugarcane department visited Ghamhari village on the first day of the campaign and was accompanied by the sugarcane specialist Bakshi Ram.

Farmers were provided information on the new trenching method for sugarcane cultivation by the mill management. The campaign, conducted in the reserved and unreserved areas of the sugar mill, will continue until April 15, according to mill officials. R.K. Singh, the Executive Vice President of the sugarcane department, stated that farmers cultivating sugarcane of improved varieties will be provided fertilizer at a subsidized rate by the mill management. The campaign saw the presence of Santosh Kumar Singh, the Sugarcane Development Officer, Ken Manager W.P. Rao, Area Incharge Pramod Kumar Singh, and several others.
