Bihar: Sugarcane farmers receive training in cost-effective sugarcane production on less land

Baikunthpur, Bihar: A group of 50 farmers from Bharat Sugar Mills, Sidhwalia left for Hasanpur in Samastipur district on Thursday to undergo training in sugarcane cultivation, reported Live Hindustan.

The farmers were flagged off by GM Shashi Kedia of Bharat Sugar Mills Sidhwalia. “We have selected progressive farmers for this training,” said RK Singh, AGM, Sugarcane Department. “In Hasanpur, they will be taught how to increase sugarcane production with low cost and less land.”

Last week, a group of 40 farmers from Vaikunthpur had also gone to Hasanpur for training. Farmers are also being taught how to intercrop sugarcane with other crops. Farmers who have returned from Hasanpur are sharing the knowledge with other farmers in their villages.

The delegation included Santhosh Kumar Singh, vice-president of the Sugarcane Department; Pankaj Singh, senior sugarcane manager; Manoj Kumar Singh, sugarcane manager; Shailendra Kumar Singh, deputy sugarcane manager; Ajit Singh, regional officer; Rajesh Singh; Jai Bahadur Singh; Angad Yadav; and Dharmendra Yadav.
