Bijnor: Farmers demand to hike sugarcane purchase price

Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of Bhartiya Kisan Union, (Bhanu group) have demanded the government to fix the sugarcane purchase price to Rs 500 per quintal.

According to the news report published in Livehindustan.com, the farmers have handed over the memorandum of their demands addressing the chief minister to the concerned authorities.

The BKU had organised a monthly meeting on Thursday during which the farmers expressed the demand of hiking sugarcane purchase price.
The meeting was organised under the leadership of district unit head Naresh Pradhan and district secretary Ravi Kumar.

Addressing the gathering several farmers raised the demand for hiking cane prices. The farmers said that during the coronavirus pandemic they have faced financial stress and want the government to take steps to address the issues.
