Bijnor: All ten sugar mills operating in Bijnor district have crushed 1 crore quintal of sugarcane as of November 22, 2023, reported Amar Ujala.

The mills are operating at full capacity and are expected to crush the remaining sugarcane by the end of the current crushing season.

The timely crushing of sugarcane has led to an increase in wheat sowing in the district. As of November 22, 2023, 2,120 hectares of land have been sown with wheat, out of a target of 152,621 hectares.

Bijnor is a major sugarcane-producing district in India. Sugarcane is the main crop in the district and politics also revolves around sugarcane. The district has a sugarcane area of two lakh 66 thousand 883 hectares.

Wheat is sown in the second week of November. This time, the target for wheat sowing has been set at 152,621 hectares. Wheat sowing is mostly done in the empty fields after sugarcane harvesting. Therefore, the pace of wheat sowing depends on the sugar mills.

In the current crushing season, the sugar mills are crushing sugarcane well. According to the sugarcane department, all the sugar mills in the district have crushed one crore quintal of sugarcane.

PN Singh, district sugarcane officer said, “Sugar mills are crushing sugarcane to their full capacity. All sugar mills are being monitored regularly. Sugarcane slips are being cut as per sugarcane demand”.
