BKU asks sugar mills to clear pending cane dues

Rampur: BKU, the organisation fighting for farmers’ cause, has threatened the sugar mills to launch an agitation if they fail to clear pending sugarcane dues in time. The sugar mills from the district owe several crores of rupees to the cane farmers. BKU had organised a Panchayat to discuss the issue and decided to launch an agitation if the mills fail to act on their demand.

According to the news report published in Livehindustan.com, District unit head Hasib Ahmad said that three sugar mills in the district have not paid full dues to the farmers. The government has failed to meet its promise of ensuring payment of cane dues on time.
