BKU members express dissatisfaction over sugar mill’s preparations

Puranpur: BKU members on Thursday expressed dissatisfaction over the incomplete preparations for the upcoming crushing season at a sugar mill in Uttar Pradesh, reported Amar Ujala.

The members, led by BKU state secretary Swaraj Singh, met with the mill’s chief engineer Ashok Kumar, chief chemist Balindar Yadav, and CCO Ajay Yadav to discuss the mill’s preparations. The mill officials told the BKU leaders that the equipment for the boiler would arrive by October 15.

The BKU leaders also expressed dissatisfaction with the mill’s decision to divide the gate into 16 sections for sugarcane supply and to allocate only two and a half hours for each section to obtain tokens. They said that the gate should be open 24 hours a day for farmers to obtain tokens. They also expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of a separate route for bullock carts carrying sugarcane to the weighing gate.

The mill officials assured the BKU leaders that no inconvenience would be caused to farmers during the crushing season.
