BKU threatens to launch an agitation if mills delay cane payment

Garhmukteshwar, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of BKU have threatened to launch an agitation if the sugar mills fail to clear their dues before starting the new crushing season. The delegation of BKU met the SDM and handed over him the memorandum of their demands.

According to the news report published in Jaagran.com, the workers of BKU (Bhanu) gathered at the Tehsil headquarters on Thursday to press for their demands. BKU said that farmers are reeling under financial stress. The administration had assured to clear cane dues but yet it has not been paid.

SDM Vijay Vardhan Toman said that he will look into the matter and ensure that the sugar mills clear their dues on a priority basis.
