Brazil allows ethanol producers to sell directly to consumers

Brasilia: Ethanol producers and importers can now sell ethanol directly to the consumers at gas stations as President Jair Bolsonaro signed a temporary decree granting them permission for the same.

The decree has been signed with an aim of increasing competition in the fuel sector.

The temporary decree will become effective in December, said the Mines and Energy Ministry.

The decree allows the branded gas stations to sell fuel from other suppliers with the condition that they should inform consumers about the origin of the product.
