Brazil produces record ethanol for season 2019-20

In season 2019-2020 Brazil reported record ethanol production. The season started on April 1, 2019, and ended on March 31, 2020.

As per UNICA, mills in the south-central region of the country produced a record volume of ethanol. It produced record 33.26 billion litres ethanol for the season 2019-20. Whereas in the season 2018-2019, 30.95 billion litres of ethanol was produced.

But in this season Brazil is not focusing on ethanol production as the crude oil price is low and also demand for the biofuel is reduced. Mills in Brazil are diverting the more sugarcane for sugar production instead of ethanol, which is likely to put pressure on the International sugar market.
