Coronavirus live updates on 6th April: India records 704 positive cases of COVID-19 in past 24 hours

India is under a 21-day lockdown which has been imposed to control the spread of coronavirus which originated from China’s Wuhan. India is still witnessing a rise in COVID 19 cases. Central and state governments are working together to combat Coronavirus and to stop the spread of coronavirus.

India recorded the highest number of 704 positive cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday.

With these new cases, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in India have now climbed to 4,281. Total deaths stand at 111 including 28 new deaths. So far, 318 COVID-19 patients have been cured across the country.

One more person tested positive for COVID-19 in Mohali on Monday, according to Punjab’s Special Chief Secretary KBS Sidhu. With this, the tally of positive COVID-19 patients in the city to 16. The patient’s parent had attended the Tablighi Jamaat religious gathering in Delhi and was tested positive for the novel coronavirus earlier. The Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi has emerged as a hotspot for COVID-19 after several positive cases from across India were linked to the gathering including deaths in Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Telangana.

Andhra Pradesh has seen 266 positive cases of coronavirus till now and 243 of them either attended the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi or came in contact with the attendees.
Andhra Pradesh Medical and Health Department Special Chief Secretary Jawahar Reddy informed the Chief Minister’s review meeting on Monday that a total of 266 coronavirus positive cases were detected till 9 am on Monday. “Two hundred and forty-three of them are those who attended Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi and their contacts. Tests have been conducted on almost all of them,” Reddy said.

18:08 IST: No positive COVID-19 case in Noida in last 48 hours: CMO
No new confirmed COVID-19 case has surfaced in the last 48 hours in Gautam Buddha Nagar, said Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr AK Chaturvedi on Monday.
He further said that till now the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the district is 58, out of which 50 are active cases. According to the latest update on the website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, as many as 109 deaths have been reported across the country due to the deadly disease.

17:46 IST: 22 new COVID-19 cases reported in Rajasthan
Twenty-two new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Rajasthan on Monday, according to the State’s Health Department. The tally of total positive cases of the novel coronavirus in the State has now climbed to 288. A 60-year-old man, who tested positive for COVID-19, died on Sunday. The man had been hospitalised with symptoms of pneumonia, fever, and cough. According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the country has gone up to 4,067.

16:35 IST: Nine more test positive for COVID-19 in Bhopal
Nine more people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Bhopal on Monday. Out of the nine, five are police personnel and four are health workers.
Till now, 54 people have tested positive for the virus in the district including one death, said the Bhopal District Administration. Earlier on Sunday, the first death due to coronavirus was reported from Bhopal after a 62-year-old person suffering from the infection died, said state health officials. A total of 217 people have tested positive for the virus in the state so far and 15 COVID-19 deaths have been reported.

15:47 IST: Punjab : 65-year-old man detected COVID-19 positive in preliminary test, dies
A 65-year-old man, who tested positive for Coronavirus in the preliminary test, died on Monday, said Punjab Special Chief Secretary KBS Sidhu. “He had been admitted to GNDH Amritsar on March 28/29, where he was diagnosed for pneumonia. As he was not improving, he was tested for COVID-19 and reported negative,” Sidhu tweeted. Sidhu added: “He moved to Fortis Hospital on Saturday where he was COVID-19 positive in the preliminary test. He died today morning.” COVID-19 infection has not been confirmed as the reason behind his death.

15:34 IST: 38-year-old male nurse tested positive for COVID-19 in Maharashtra, dies
A 38-year-old male nurse at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Aurangabad has tested positive for COVID-19, according to officials.
GMCH Dean Dr Kanan Yelikar said the nurse has been shifted to District Civil Hospital. The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in India climbed to 4067, said Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday.

15:15 IST: Eight Markaz attendees test corona positive in UP
Eight members of Tablighi Jamaat have been tested positive for Covid-19 in Uttar Pradesh’s Khairabad, officials said on Monday. All eight were part of the gathering at Delhi’s Nizamuddin Markaz, which emerged as a hotspot of coronavirus. Seven of them are Bangladeshis and one is from Maharashtra. All of them are being shifted to a hospital, informed Alok Verma the Chief Medical Officer of Sitapur.
The religious gathering in Delhi last month sparked off a countrywide search for its attendees after reports emerged about the formation of new clusters of coronavirus-affected people linked to the event.

15:03 IST: COVID-19 cases in Karnataka climb to 163
The total number of positive cases in Karnataka climbed to 163 after 12 more cases were reported, state government officials said on Monday. Out of the 12 new cases, three of them have a history of travelling to Delhi. The tally includes four deaths and 18 people have recovered and discharged.

14:13 IST: Odisha gets its third COVID-19 dedicated govt hospital
A 525-bed hospital, dedicated for coronavirus patients, was set up at SOA campus in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar. This is the third government COVID-19 dedicated hospital in the state. According to officials, the state now has the capacity to handle 1,350 coronavirus patients. The hospital, which will be managed by SUM Medical College and supported by MCL, also has a 25-bed ICU facility.

14:03 IST: Total number of COVID-19 cases rises to four in Jharkhand
One more person from Hindpiri area has tested positive for coronavirus, said Nitin Madan Kulkarni, Jharkand Health Secretary, on Monday. “One more woman from Hindpiri area, Ranchi, tested positive for COVID-19. She was in direct contact of the Malaysian woman (first positive case in the state) who was staying in the area and had tested positive earlier,” said Kulkarni. The state now has a total of four positive cases.

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Gujarat rose to 144 after 16 new cases were detected, the state’s Health and Family Welfare Department said on Monday.
Eleven cases have been reported from Ahmedabad followed by two in Vadodara and one each from Patan, Mehsana and Surat. At least 21 people have been discharged and 11 people have died from the deadly disease so far. The Maharashtra State Health Department on Monday confirmed 33 new coronavirus positive cases in Maharashtra, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases to 781 in the state.

Out of the 33 cases, 19 were reported in Pimpri-Chinchwad, 11 in Mumbai, one each in Ahmednagar, Satara and Vasai. With an increase of 490 cases in the last 12 hours, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in India climbed to 4067, said Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday.

Eight more people have tested positive for coronavirus in Rajasthan including six who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi, according to the Health Department of Rajasthan. Out of the eight people, five have tested positive in Jhunjhunu, two in Dungarpur and one in Kota. “The five people in Jhunjhunu and one in Dungarpur had attended the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi. The total number of positive cases in the state has increased to 274,” said the State Health Department in a circular.

11:26 IST: Kanika Kapoor discharged after testing negative in sixth test
Singer Kanika Kapoor on Monday was discharged from a Lucknow hospital after she tested negative for coronavirus in her sixth test. The singer was admitted at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) here. She will now have to undergo home quarantine for 14 days. Earlier, Kanika’s fifth COVID-19 test results came negative. The test was conducted on April 4. Kanika had tested positive for the fourth time on March 29. She was tested positive for the first time on March 20. Earlier, Lucknow Police booked the singer on charges of negligence for attending various social events in the city despite being infected with coronavirus and having been instructed by the authorities to isolate herself at her home.
