Crushing operations in experimental sugar mill of National Sugar Institute begins

Kanpur: Sugarcane crushing began at the Experimental Sugar Mill of National Sugar Institute, Kanpur on Saturday, reports The Times of India.

The institute is the only one of its kind that provides ‘inplant’ training to its students related to the different courses. The mill will continue operations for 45 days and utilize the sugarcane available on its farm.

Prof Narendra Mohan, director of NSI said, “The Experimental sugar mill has facilities to produce raw, refined, and plantation white sugar that gives wider exposure to students. Sugar mills normally produce either white sugar or raw sugar. This type of experience helps students to get a job anywhere in India as well as abroad.”

“We provide them practical knowledge starting from sugarcane cultivation to sugar production and management. The students are trained in the methodology for assessing the quality of sugarcane,” said Ashok Garg, an officer in charge of education.
