District records bumper sugarcane production

Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane production in the district has registered higher output as compared with the previous season. It was projected that there would be 10 per cent lower sugarcane production this season, but it has surpassed the estimation.

The area under sugarcane cultivation is around 2.50 lakh hectare and the bumper crop has resulted in increased sugar output. Last year sugarcane harvesting and crushing were delayed and farmers got less time to take new crops. Hence it was expected that there will be less sugarcane output but the favourable climate and good rainfall helped in increasing the sugarcane yield this year.

According to the news report published in Amarujala.com, district Sugarcane Officer Yashpal Singh said, “The average yield has been increased this season as compared to previous one. Sugarcane crushing is still going on. Efforts are on to ensure timely payment of farmers.”
