DM asks sugar mills to expedite cane payment

Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh: Sugar mills in the district are yet to clear 27 per cent cane dues to the sugarcane farmers. DM Indravikram Singh has issued instructions to the sugar mills to clear the pending cane dues to the farmers on a priority basis.

According to the news report published in Livehindustan.com, speaking at a review meeting, he said, “The mills are yet to clear 27 per cent cane dues. Sugar mills should clear cane dues immediately.”

Uttar Pradesh government seems to be strict and warn of action to sugar mills over pending cane dues. Recently, State sugar minister Suresh Rana said.” We are keeping a close watch on sugar companies who are yet to clear cane dues.”

So far, the state government has made a record payment of Rs 1,37,518 crore to more than 45.44 lakh sugarcane farmers. This is twice the BSP government and one and a half times more than the SP government.
