Dry weather may impact sugar production in Sri Lanka

The lack of water has affected sugarcane cultivation spread across 10,000 acres.

Gamini Rasaputhra, the CEO of Sevanagala Sugar Industries, informed News 1st that the sugar factory’s operations have been severely impacted.

He expressed concern that without adequate rainfall within two weeks, it would become exceedingly difficult to sustain the operations of the sugar factory. This might also impact sugar production in Sri Lanka.
