Ethanol blending programme reaches in all states of country

Inching towards the ambitious 20 per cent ethanol blending programme by 2025, India will achieve 8.1% to 8.2% blending by the end of November, said C Sridhar Goud, executive director at HPCL. He was speaking at a webinar organised by the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) on Friday.

According to the news report published in The Economic Times, he said, “At present, we have achieved 7.89% blending and by the end of the ethanol supply year (ESY) that runs from December to November we would achieve the target of 8.1% to 8.2% blending.”

The government had launched the ambitious ethanol blending programme (EBP) in 2013-14 and now it has reached to all the states of the country.

“As petrol sales in the country have gone back to the pre-pandemic levels, ethanol uptake will continue to pre-pandemic levels or might increase. The ethanol demand for next year will be presented accordingly, “Goud further added.
