Farmer shot dead, cane-laden tractor looted in Sambhal

Bareilly: A 23-year-old farmer en route to deliver a cane crop to a sugar mill in Sambhal’s Asmoli area was fatally shot, allegedly by robbers who also seized his tractor loaded with cane, reports The Times of India.

The victim, Mehndi Hasan, a resident of Bilalpat village, set out late Saturday night, and his lifeless body, bearing two bullet wounds, was discovered on Sunday evening.

The family initiated a search for Hasan when he failed to return by Sunday. Around 5.30 pm, Shamim, the victim’s father, received a distressing call notifying him that his son’s body was found in a hut situated in the fields of a farmer in Khanpur Bandh village near the sugar mill.

Upon receiving information about the incident, law enforcement swiftly arrived at the scene. Harish Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Asmoli police station, remarked, “This is a murder case, and it appears that the assailants were after the tractor. An FIR has been filed on the charge of murder, and teams have been mobilized to apprehend the culprits. The victim’s body was handed over to the family after the autopsy.”
