Farmers demand revival of Amroha co-operative sugar mill

Mandi Dhanaura (Amroha): Sugarcane farmers under the banner of the BKU Shankar group have demanded the revival of the Amroha Co-operative sugar mill that was sold during the BSP rule, reports Amar Ujala.

A gathering was held in the Block premises on Thursday where the demands were made for the upcoming sugarcane season, including fixing sugarcane price of Rs 450 per quintal and reopening the closed Amroha sugar mill.

National President Divakar Singh stated that although the state government has made changes in the process of electricity billing for tube wells and domestic electricity meters without charge after April 2023, no orders have been issued in this regard as of yet. It was alleged during the gathering that in rural areas, bills for 40 percent of consumers are exceeding twice the normal amount. A demand was made to investigate and rectify this issue.
